1 What is One-to-One NURTURE-Discipleship?
One-to-one NURTURE discipleship is not merely Bible study. It is nurturing disciples of Jesus by following the method He used to train His own disciples individually. It involves a mentor teaching the Word and a companion learning it meeting one-to-one to systematically study God’s Word, share their lives, pray together, and build a relationship as fellow believers. Through this one-to-one relationship, it is a process of mutually supporting each other to grow spiritually to the full stature of Christ.
Background of the Ministry
Shin Gwang Dure Church overcame various difficulties and, on 7 June 2020, held its first worship service under the name “Shin Gwang Dure Church” following the merger of Dongducheon Dure Church and Shin Gwang Church.

Guided by these five pastoral principles, we introduced this ministry, convinced that Bible study would provide believers with a focal point for fellowship and become the driving force preparing for a unified Korea. We are confident that through sharing life and exemplifying service, believers will become God’s instruments, expanding His kingdom.
History of One-to-One Discipleship
Shin Gwang Dure Church’s one-to-one discipleship programme commenced on 2 July 2023 with a gathering of 24 first-term companions, including Senior Pastor Choi Dong-muk. At that time, lacking its own one-to-one mentors, the church relied on mentors supported by Bucheon Onnuri Church to nurture 19 companions. By November 2025, it had produced 77 mentors. We believe this remarkable development in just over two years is evidence of God’s amazing purpose for our church.
Now, throughout the church, these one-to-one meetings where companions pray together and share life have borne remarkable fruit: companions gaining assurance of salvation, wounded hearts being healed, families being restored to live new lives. Moreover, challenged by the life changes in their companions, the mentors themselves are striving to offer themselves wholly to God.
Ministry Strategy and Programme
We serve the saints through the following systematic methods:
– All registered members are required to complete the one-to-one discipleship companion course to receive training.
– Through the companion course, nurturers and companions share their lives and intercede for one another, leading to life transformation and training as disciples of Jesus Christ.
